Sorry EA, but we're getting tired of you making terrible football games

Anyone remember ESPN NFL 2k5? Sorry, but this game absolutely blew Madden out of the water. It had superior gameplay, graphics, and sales. Most of all, it was priced at only $19.99. EA then got scared and made it so they were the only ones who could produce NFL, NCAA and Arena football games.

Since then, Madden has been producing what I believe are low quality football games, and they get away with it because Americans love their football, and there is no competition. They seem to be repeatedly releasing the same NFL and College football games each year, with very slight improvements.

Still, there is a pending lawsuit, filed in 2008, which accuses EA of violating antitrust laws with its exclusive agreements with the NFL, NCAA, and Arena Football League that made it the only company able to produce games involving these licenses. Should it be approved, it may grant rights to other developers to make a football game.

Hopefully, if it panned out 2k sports would take advantage and again destroy Madden, because honestly EA's sports games are terrible. This is why NBA Live/Elite is gone off the market, 2k just makes high-quality sports games. I'm hoping that bringing some competition into the field will either force EA to make a decent football game, or that 2k will just produce some beast of a game and show us all how bad EA really is.
